Big Savings on Solar Batteries Start July 1: Here’s How to Take Advantage

The Australian Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program launches on 1st July 2025, offering a generous upfront discount on eligible home batteries — helping more households store solar energy, save on power bills, and reduce reliance on the grid.

At PowerEase, we’re here to guide you through it — and highlight why DEYE battery systems are a top pick under the new scheme.

What’s the Cheaper Home Batteries Program?

This program gives you an upfront discount based on the battery’s usable capacity, rather than a refund later. The rebate is applied through the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES).

In 2025, the rebate is expected to be around $335 per usable kilowatt-hour (kWh) of battery storage — that’s about 30% off the total battery cost.

Key Program Info at a Glance:

  • Batteries sized between 5 kWh and 100 kWh, with rebates capped at 50 kWh per system
  • Must be paired with existing or new rooftop solar eligible under the small-scale scheme
  • Batteries and inverters must be CEC-approved and VPP-capable (Virtual Power Plant ready)
  • Rebates can be combined with applicable state incentives
  • Only one rebate per electricity meter/property
  • EV batteries and EV chargers are not included

The program supports both on-grid and off-grid systems, with on-grid installs required to be VPP-capable.

Example: How Much Can You Save with DEYE Batteries?

Here’s a look at how the 2025 Federal Battery Rebate could reduce your upfront cost when you choose DEYE battery systems available at PowerEase:

Battery Model

Usable Capacity

Average Pre-Rebate Cost

Estimated Rebate @$335/kWh

Final Cost After Rebate

DEYE AI-W51-B

5.1 kWh

~$5,600

~$1,709

~$3,891

DEYE RW-F102

10.2 kWh

~$10,800

~$3,417

~$7,383

These savings are applied upfront, not as a refund later — so you pay less from day one. Both models are CEC-approved, VPP-ready, and perfect for modern solar homes.
